Two Brothers and Me review & GIVEAWAY!! CLOSED

This giveaway is now CLOSED! Congratulations to Carlene for winning.

About the Book

from the author's website

Two Brothers and Me is a story about the relationship between brothers and sisters, about the love that is shared. A brother lets you tag along and be a part of the game; he's protecting; he's caring, and he loves you beyond words.

Two Brothers and Me shows how beginning at birth a little girl is born into the pretty little pink world created just for girls. However, as she grows she slowly develops her own personailty, and even though she may still wear pink, she is also included in her brother's world of camouflage, T-ball, tree forts and big wheels.

This book portrays the love between brothers and sisters. A brother's love is a bond shared forever.

About the Author

Author Sheri Garland York was born and raised in the beautiful Northeast Georgia Mountains in Rabun County where she still resides. She attended Rabun Gap Nacoochee High School; she received her BS degree and her Master's degree in Early Childhood from North Georgia College and State University. Later in life, Sheri graduated from Brenau University with a Specialist Degree in Early Childhood.

Sheri retired from teaching in June 2008 upon teaching 30 years for the Rabun County School System. Over half of her life has been spent teaching kindergarten through second grade children. Her biggest reward as teacher was watching a child's eyes sparkle as they began to read.

The most fulfilling joy and blessing of her life has been raising her three children--Dallas, Isaac, and Hannah. It was so rewarding watching her children grow and develop the strong bond they still share today. Sheri and her children are a very close family and enjoy spending time together as often as possible.

MY REVIEW

I thought the story itself was very cute. I have 2 sons and a younger daughter and the story definitely rings true to life as well. I appreciated the sentiment behind the words and the reading level is perfect for young kids. I was not a big fan of the illustrations however. My 7 year old thought that the brothers looked "mean" sometimes. I think my children would have enjoyed the story more if the illustrations had been a little more appealing. The picture on the front makes the book seem more like a family scrapbook than a children's book.

My brother has two boys and a (youngest) girl. She is very much a mixture of tomboy and girly girl. And she loves her big brothers or "my boys" as she calls them. I think she'd really enjoy this book so count me in. :0)

Thanks!
