Owen LOVES Ninjago and so he was more than thrilled when we gave him this Brickmaster Ninjago book. He was very excited to build the Lego creations AND to read the stories in the book.

Owen is in grade 4 and he is an excellent reader and we actually have trouble keeping enough interesting age-appropriate reading material in the house for him. Apparently I am not super good at choosing books for a 9 year old boy... who knew? He tends to think the books I choose are ... um... lame.

But Ninjago? That was a sure-fire hit. He even read a couple of the stories out-loud to his sister which is not something he would normally choose to do.

This book is geared to ages 6+ and Owen just turned 9 so he had absolutely no trouble following the instructions on his own. He didn't need our help at all and he was able to read through the whole book without issues.

She loved that there was space in the book to keep her Lego creations - she made it into a sort of "play area" for her Lego characters. It was very cute.

Olivia is just learning to read and so we read a lot of the book together.

MY REVIEW

This book is beyond cool. It combines the two things my son loves more than anything else... Star Wars and Lego. Aiden is positively delighted with this book. He claimed it as his own instantly and I have had to remind him about a zillion times to SHARE it with his brother. Aiden has spent hours pouring over the pages of this book. He is 9 and able to read most of it on his own.

I asked Aiden and Owen to tell me what they thought of the Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary and this is what they said:

Aiden: MOM it is AWESOME! 

Owen: oh yeah it is so cool because it has all the guys in it and there are lots of pictures and it has EVERYTHING in it!

So there you have it folks- it is a definite hit in our house!

OUR REVIEW

Our whole family thinks the Lego Book is unbelievably cool... but my son Aiden positively adores it. Aiden (age 8) is a Lego-fanatic and he was over the moon when it arrived at our house. He has spent hours pouring over the pages, he keeps it beside his bed at night, he has taken it to school  show his friends... he really loves it. Owen (age 7) was especially impressed with Standing Small. He loves going through and reading the names of each little Lego character. 


The Lego Book is incredibly informative- I've learned a ton and I enjoyed the look back at Lego's from when I was a kid. My husband said reading it was like a walk down memory lane because he had some of the sets in the book when he was a kid. He thought that was really cool. The photography is excellent as well. I think this is the perfect gift for the Lego fans in your life!
