Healthy Child, Whole Child review

Book Description (from the HarperCollins website)

Ditchek and Russell H. Greenfield answer these questions and more, offering authoritative, cutting-edge information on all aspects of children's health and wellness. Taking the position that conventional and alternative approaches to pediatric care are not mutually exclusive, they provide the newest science and most up-to-date information on:

  • The 6 myths (and one true statement) about vaccinations
  • The 10 powerhouse foods for your kids
  • The 7 questions you need to ask to find out if your child is overweight
  • The 16 herbs that are safe and effective for children
  • How to receive more integrative care from your current pediatrician and more!

MY REVIEW

Healthy Child, Whole Child has TONS of information in it. Although it is easy to read it is a large book and certainly not one that could be read through in one sitting. The authors explain things in terms anyone can understand and it would make an excellent reference and resource book for any homes with children. I love that this book talks about alternative forms of health care as well as the traditional approaches. There is loads of practical advice and I am certain that most parents would learn a lot from it's pages.

I've always been a fan of some herbal remedies and other forms of alternative medicine and I have used them TOGETHER with traditional medicine for years. I would have loved to have read this book when my first child was an infant! Healthy Child, Whole Child would make an excellent gift for the expectant parents in your life.
